Training Week 1

Hi All,

Review of our first weeks Goalkeeping session.

The session was based around the keepers set up position and the use of their feet.

Firstly keepers were asked to show their set position and where their hands should be. I then demonstrated the meaning of the term CRUSHING GRAPES and by doing this their body weight was already in the forward position, meaning that they would not fall backwards.

The majority of the boys got this small adjustment right away but I will re enforce it again in the next session.

After a drinks break we moved onto quick feet and recovering back into the set position.
This was a great success and the boys really enjoyed the hard work. After a while I introduced a small competition to see who could do the exercise correctly the competitive side of the boys really came out.

We finished with a short drill on the boys catching and kicking balls with servers on both sides.
